Review of the Service
Elite Care Providers Ltd will provide services on the basis of an agreed service user plan of care. This is based on an initial assessment of the service users needs, undertaken before start of service by a senior member of staff. The needs of the service user will be reassessed from time to time, at least 6 monthly, and the service user may request a review at any time if the service being delivered is felt to be too little, too much or inappropriate for their needs. If it is agreed that the service should be changed the service user care plan will be modified accordingly and contract amended.
Staff Supervision
The home care workers helping the service user will be under the supervision of their supervisor. Any complaints/compliments should be addressed firstly to the Home Care Manager, Mrs Gayle Aldred at the Ashton office.
Health & Safety
A health and safety risk assessment will be carried out before start of service and any issues arising from this will be dealt with accordingly and any action to be taken agreed with the service user. A copy of our Health & Safety policy is available on request.
Staff Holidays & Sickness
We endeavor to keep the same team of Carers with our service users at all times but there will be times when additional home Carers will be required to cover for holidays, sickness, and staff leaving our employment, in these circumstances notification will be given where possible.
Medication
Your home carers will only assist you with medication when authorised to do so. A copy of your medication record will be obtained from your GP for the home carer to refer to. All medication should be made available in dosset boxes arranged by the pharmacist. Medication Record Sheets will be filled in on a daily basis by your home carer. Yours home carers will not be allowed to buy or recommend any over-the-counter preparations such as aspirins or cough medicines.
Identity Card
To ensure you know whom you are letting into your home. The home carer will also carry a name badge, which will quite clearly show the name and photograph of your home carer, our telephone numbers and the home carers start date with us. Your home carers will show, upon request, their identity card. This practice is recommended
Handling Clients money
These procedures are put in place to protect our service users and home carers when handling cash or valuables on behalf of our service users. Upon authorisation from the service user to handle monies, our home carers are issued with receipt books. Every transaction regarding our service users money or pension collection will be recorded in these receipt books. When the home carer delivers either the shopping or pension or any other transaction, you, as our service user will be asked to sign that the correct amount of money has been given to you. The home carer will also obtain a receipt from the shop or post office where possible. You should never lend money to or borrow money from your home carer.
Home carers will never be allowed to enter into gambling syndicates with our service users.
Please do not ask your home carer to purchase a lottery ticket or place a bet for you, as Elite Care Providers will not be responsible for any losses incurred. Money or valuables will not be taken from our service users home for safe keeping by the home carer.
Gifts and gratuities
It is not unusual for our service user to want to give the home care worker a gift or present or make them a beneficiary in their Will. It is very important that you do not offer gifts or money to the home Carers as they are not allowed to accept them. We are accredited with Durham County Council Social Services who tell us we must never accept any form of gift from our service users, also your home Carer must never be involved with making Wills for service users or acting as Executor in a service users Will. Any breach of these rules will result in your home Carer being involved in disciplinary action being taken against them. If however, clients are insistent that the home Carer takes a gift, it will always be reported to the Manager and at her discretion will be returned to the service user. |
